October 16, 2011 - The Harvard Lampoon awarded the Boston Bruins with the “Best Sports Team Ever” award.  The ceremony featured a resolution from Mayor David Maher, music, speeches from the Lampoon, and a dodgeball game.  It was a fun, lighthearted event.

October 14, 2011 - I was downtown on other business and wanted to stop by Occupy Boston.  I support these peaceful protests as citizens try to get the change they want and deserve!

October 13, 2011 - My good friend Oz Mondejar co-hosted a fundraiser at his home with some of his colleagues.  It was an intimate gathering of movers and shakers in the Cambridge healthcare industry.  We talked about Central and Kendall Squares and my early childhood development initiative, Baby University, among other issues.  The event was deliciously catered by John Verlinden of Mucho Gusto.  It was a lot of fun and a successful fundraiser!  Thank you to all who attended.

October 5, 2011 - Today Magic Johnson came to City Hall to discuss his involvement in the North Point community.  There were lots of great photo opportunities and great work happening!

CHINESE COMMUNITY BACKS KEN REEVES

October 4, 2011 - Last night we had a very successful fundraiser at the Royal East Restaurant on Main St. near Central Square.  Longtime supporter Hong Liu helped organize the event, fundraise, and turn out a wonderful group of people.  I spoke on some of my programs, including the Red Ribbon Commission and Baby University, and Hong translated.  The question and answer portion gave me a great opportunity to hear from teachers, business owners, and citizens.  We enjoyed delicious food and drinks and had a great time!

September 27, 2011 - I took part in the East Cambridge Planning Team’s Candidates’ Forum at the Cultural Arts Center.  I would like to thank the organizers and all who attended!

September 27, 2011 - My time as the Chairperson of Mayor’s Red Ribbon Commission on the Delights and Concerns of Central Square has been very rewarding.  I have gotten to work with a stunning variety of civic leaders, property owners, and businesspeople.  The Commission will report to the Mayor and City Council October 24th.  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this a success!

Enjoy these photos of our final meeting at the Floating Rock Cafe.  We had great presentations and then a delicious lunch.

This morning I attended an author event at the Main Library.  Ida E. Jones, a native Cantabridgian who attended Howard University, presented on her first book, The Heart of the Race Problem: The Life of Kelly Miller.  Ida is currently the Assistant Curator of Manuscripts at the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center and an adjunct professor in the Afro-American Studies Department at the University of Maryland at College Park.  She earned her PhD in American History.  (Top two photos.)

Later in the afternoon I attended Area IV Community Pride Day, where I met up with old friends and enjoyed the festivities.

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of attending the opening ceremony for the Entrepreneurship Walk of Fame in Kendall Square.  The ceremony and following reception were organized by MIT and other private groups and foundations, with the help of fellow Councilor Leland Cheung.  You can read more about the Walk of Fame here: http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2011/09/16/mit_inaugurates_entrepreneurs_walk_of_fame_in_kendall_square/
